Container intermodal transportation is an important organizational form of multimodal transportation, which is an important lever to optimize transportation structure, promote transportation and logistics cost reduction, improve quality and efficiency. Currently, there are still differences between railway and waterway transportation in terms of container cargo loading, safety inspection requirements, and operational processes, which affect the efficiency of intermodal transportation. In order to implement the relevant requirements of the "Opinions on Accelerating the Development of 'One Order System' and 'One Container System' in Multimodal Transport" and improve the standard system of container multimodal transport, the Ministry of Transport has organized the compilation of the recommended national standard "Technical Specification for Loading and Safety Inspection of Container Iron and Steel Intermodal Transport" (GB/T 48309-2026), which will be officially implemented from January 1, 2027.
This standard will standardize the loading reinforcement and safety inspection operations in the connection between railway and waterway transportation, improve the operational synergy, safety, and operational efficiency of container intermodal transportation, promote cost reduction, quality improvement, and efficiency enhancement in transportation and logistics, and provide strong support for promoting high-quality development of multimodal transportation.
